Software engineer for startups

Hi 👋

Do you want to make a real impact, working for fast-paced startups? Wanna build great software products from scratch and have an in-depth insight into the whole product you’re building? Do you like to work together in a tight-knit team where you can be a creative inventor every day?

Because when you find a job you enjoy, you’ll never have to work a day in your life, right? (OK, that was cheesy. But still...)

Company & role

At Dashdot, we breathe life into digital visions. We are a digital product studio that helps early-stage startups and founders succeed by building truly amazing software products. We work in all sorts of industries, from healthcare to travel, from B2C to B2B customers.

As a Software Engineer at Dashdot, you’ll join forces with our 5 Software Engineers, Product Manager, Marketing Manager and our 2 Co-founders. Every day, you’ll build go-to-market-ready products in a creative and fun work atmosphere.

You will:

  • Not just be a code-monkey 😉! The beauty of our way of working is that you’ll have a true impact on the design process. You’ll work together with Rob, our Product Manager, and Dries, our CTO, to deliver end-to-end features, seeing them through from conception to delivery.

  • You’ll also work closely with your clients and help shape the direction of their products from the ground up.

  • Based on your in-depth insight into what your client wants to achieve, you write well-designed, testable and efficient code. You’ll integrate data from various back-end services and databases, and you’ll design and develop API’s.

  • You’ll get the opportunity to stay on top of emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply these to your day-to-day work.

  • Moreover, you can help develop and evangelise high engineering standards and best practices within Dashdot.

  • Of course, creating solid documentation is also part of your work, as well as keeping good tabs on your admin. But we promise we’ll leave you some time to do your actual dev work.

What we have to offer

  • Working in a small team in which everyone's input is extremely valuable.

  • Working in a fast-paced startup environment with lots of opportunities to grow and deepen your skills as a professional.

  • A flexible work environment in which you’ll be able to work from home 3-4 days a week.

  • 32 holidays per year (20 days + 12 ADV days).

  • Work materials that allow you to work smoothly: a MacBook, iPhone (or Android) and a mobile subscription with 10Gb Internet.

  • And of course a solid remuneration package, including hospitalisation insurance, group insurance, meal vouchers, eco cheques, home working allowance, and a company car (apply to find out what kind! 😉 )

  • We do everything we can to make our values come to life, day after day:

    • Software is about people: We try to inspire and employ the best and brightest people in a healthy work environment.

    • We persevere when things get tough: We are deeply passionate about the things we do and always try to stay hungry.

    • We’re product builders: We move fast and choose speed and agility over corporate bureaucracy.

Our Technologies

As a product studio, we specialise in full-stack JavaScript (TypeScript) applications. We primarily use React, Next.js, and Node.js, unless our customers request otherwise. By using TypeScript for both frontend and backend development, we can significantly accelerate product development. We also develop numerous mobile apps using React Native and Expo. Expo has provided an excellent platform on top of React Native that has served us well for many years. Our backend stack almost always includes other technologies such as Postgres, Redis, GraphQL, and sometimes Supabase.

We're always seeking ways to improve our technology stack, and we love to see you contribute your input to these discussions.

Who we are looking for

Are you sitting on the tip of your chair? Then chances are that we’ll be a great fit for each other 😊. Here are some more pointers:

  • You (obviously) have a strong experience in js and React, and you are proficient in working with version control tools like Git

  • You have experience with developing API’s (GraphQL or Rest) and can work with modern front-end build tools like SWC, Turbo, Vite, …

  • Working with the Agile methodology has become second nature for you

  • You have a thorough insight into how web applications work (including security and session management), and in network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP) and architecture

  • You get a kick out of getting to the core of a problem and swiftly finding elegant and creative solutions.

  • You can organise your work like a boss and work within the constraints of timelines and budgets. Fast-paced environment, remember 😉.

  • You have a knack for working constructively with colleagues and clients.

  • You love learning, keeping your knowledge state-of-the-art and trying out new stuff.

Are you hyped? Then we are hyped to meet you!

Send us your resume and motivation letter, and we’ll be in touch real soon!
